Our family loves to go camping as often as possible in the summer, and these days a family camping trip means lots of great food cooked over an open fire, exhilarating outdoor experiences, and at nighttime, of course, a little bit of music around the campfire. Thanks to our smart phones and some great choices in Bluetooth speakers, a camping trip in the middle of nowhere doesn’t mean we have to leave our music behind. The NYNE Bass is the perfect Bluetooth speaker to take with you on a camping trip in the backwoods.
This is probably what you’d call a mid-range priced speaker as it retails for about $180 – it’s not a trivial amount by any means, but it also compares favorably to other speakers in this price category for quality of sound. It has the main features you’d expect in a Bluetooth speaker these days, and it’s also got a deep rich bass sound which is probably the most important feature of any Bluetooth speaker.
The Latest Bluetooth Technology
This Speaker by NYNE comes equipped with the latest Bluetooth technology, which makes it compatible with a wider range of modern devices. The other great thing about Bluetooth 4.0 technology is that it has a slightly extended range and it also produces a more reliable connection between your Bluetooth speaker and your smart phone. All new smart phones released these days come with Bluetooth 4.0 technology, so it makes sense for a speaker to be compatible with this technology as well.
Enough Battery for Your Fire
As the family sits around the campfire enjoying the music coming out of your Bluetooth speaker, it would be a little disappointing if it ran out of juice during the perfect evening. You don’t have to worry about that with the NYNE Bass, as this Speaker has a built-in lithium-ion battery with long-lasting capabilities. In fact, when listening to the speaker at a reasonable level you can expect the battery to last for about 10 hours. If you’re just out on a weekend camping trip chances are you won’t even have to take it to the car to charge at all.
Charge Your Other Devices
With so many different Bluetooth speakers to choose from it generally comes down to what sort of extras the manufacturer includes, as most Bluetooth speakers offer comparable sound quality. Another great feature of this model is that it has a power bank on the back of the unit for charging your mobile devices. Once again, this is perfect for the camping trip where you won’t have electrical outlets readily available. Since your smart phone is the central hub of your musical entertainment it’s important to keep it charged at all times, and that’s not an issue with this speaker.
Touch and Pair
I remember seeing a commercial for a smart phone a few years ago and being absolutely amazed that you could touch two smart phones together and share information. Now that this technology has been around for a few years some of its luster has worn off, but it’s still a great feature with a lot of potential uses. This NFC technology, as it’s called, has been used for things such as Visa transactions, as well as interaction between your smart phone and advertisements at the local bus stop, to name a couple. One of its most common uses is as an easy pairing option for two Bluetooth devices. This NYNE speaker is compatible with this technology, which means if you have an NFC compatible smart phone you can simply tap the phone on the NFC symbol on the speaker to pair it. It might not be a necessary item, but it does make life a lot easier.
Great for International Travel
One feature that this speaker has that separates it from the competition a little bit is the fact that it comes equipped with four international adapters. This means that you can take this speaker traveling with you to just about any destination in the world and not have to worry about whether or not you can charge it – you simply plug in the appropriate adapter and you’re ready to go. In my opinion it’s extra features like this that can really change a consumer’s buying decision.
Not every owner of this speaker system is satisfied with how well it holds a charge. In spite of the manufacturer’s claims that it will last for up to 10 hours some customers have complained you’re lucky if you get half that time out of a charge. Others have complained that while it may charge for up to 10 hours for the first couple of months – after a few months you’ll have much more difficulty with it holding its charge. This is a relatively small minority of customers we’re talking about here though, so it may be just a case of a couple of unlucky customers that purchased defective units.
Another important thing to keep in mind is that quite a few customers have complained that the speaker system does not work very well with BlackBerry devices. Blackberry’s share of the market has shrunk considerably over the years, so this will probably not be of much concern to most people – if you do own a BlackBerry device, though, you may want to look elsewhere.
Break out the Marshmallows
I can definitely see myself picking up one of these NYNE Bass speakers for our next family camping trip. It has a ton of great features such as the latest Bluetooth technology, a USB charging port, and NFC pairing technology, and of course it has a great sound quality. When you combine all these factors with its 10 hours of battery life what you get is great value for money.
